New Delhi: Kia has completed 200 deliveries of its EV6 SUV in India and it is double of what was originally planned. Kia had planned around 100 units of the EV6 in its first year and then it received around 355 bookings which it plans to complete by next year it also will increase the allocation of EV6 units to India as well.

With high demand, the EV6 has surpassed its allocation for our market.

The EV6 is a CBU and has an ARAI-certified range of 708km while it is available with a twin motor layout.

Being a CBU the EV6 is priced at Rs 64.9 lakh for the dual motor version while the single motor configuration is priced at Rs 54.9 lakh. However, the high price tag has not deterred buyers from getting this car due to its high range plus features.

The Kia EV6 is built on Kia’s dedicated EV platform, the Electric-Global Modular Platform (E-GMP) and is their first dedicated SUV model in the EV segment.

While the EV6 is a premium SUV, the first made-in-India Kia EV will debut by 2025 and will be most likely made in India with a localised E-GMP platform. Currently, the carmaker is ramping up its fast charging network and installing fast chargers.

The premium EV space has grown considerably with various entrants at various price points. Recently we saw the Mercedes EQB and there is also the Volvo XC40 Recharge too. The premium segment has more EVs now when compared to the compact space but Kia with its mass-market EV will be a crucial launch for the carmaker in increasing EV adoption in India.
