Kia's upcoming SUV will be placed above the Sonet, but it will also be a boxier SUV that will be targeted at a different buyer for those who want an SUV placed between the Seltos and Sonet. While a price overlap is indeed expected to happen between the various variants of the three SUVs, the Clavis would be a more tough looking version. Hence, you can expect boxier design details like square wheel arches, vertical DRLs and headlamp design similar to the EV9 to some extent.

Also, expect 16-inch wheels with a different look and new colours with a dual tone option as well. We expect petrol engines in the Clavis to be shared with the Sonet, too, while the interior could share more details with the Seltos, especially the design. The features list is also expected to be premium with a panoramic sunroof, connected car tech, ADAS and a 360 degree camera as well. It would also get some features from the Sonet too while the instrument cluster could have a Seltos like customisable look.

The important thing is that the Clavis is their first mass market EV after their premium offerings like the EV6, although the battery pack remains a mystery along with the range details. In terms of competition, the Clavis will square up to a new set of rivals which are also feature packed but below the 4m SUV space. The key element would be the pricing, which has to be competitive, and with high localisation levels, they would be kept closer to the Sonet even though it could be significantly priced higher than the base Sonet. While the EV version is expected to compete with the Tata Punch EV, the petrol Clavis would be priced more aggressively.
