The new Suzuki Swift is one of the most awaited new cars in India and now the global version has scored a 4 star NCAP crash test rating in Japan. Japan is where the new generation Swift is already on sale and this is for the Japanese spec Swift. The car has scored 90 per cent, being 117.80 points out of 197 points.

The Swift sold in Japan also comes with ADAS features which also helped to get this score. For the front full wrap collision test it scored 4 stars (drivers seat) while it scored full 5 stars in Side collision test (Driver's seat), Neck injury protection rear-end collision performance test (Driver's seat) and more. The car also scored 3 stars in the Offset frontal collision test (Rear passenger's seat) and 4 stars in the Passenger seat belt reminder (PSBR) test.

Do note that this is for the Japanese spec model and the India spec Swift could be different in terms of equipment plus some features. That said, the 4 star crash test rating is quite impressive for the Japanese market spec Swift and bodes well for expectations for our market even though the spec could be different.

The Swift is coming next month and will be launched with a new 1.2l petrol engine with more fuel efficiency while it will get new interiors along with more features like 6 airbags, more connected car tech etc. The new generation Swift launch is days away while more information regarding the India spec version would be revealed closer to its India launch date which is in May 2024. The India crash tests of the car if submitted for testing would be carried by Bharat NCAP of course.
