New Delhi: Jeep is readying its big flagship SUV to be placed above the Wrangler in India and it would mean that the Grand Cherokee badge will make a comeback here. This is the new generation Grand Cherokee and is a full blown luxury SUV along with being a proper Jeep of course while the styling has been tuned for a premium look.
The Grand Cherokee will also be locally assembled in India alongside the Wrangler plus the Compass and Meridian too.
Jeep India has confirmed that the launch date for the new Grand Cherokee is 11th November while the spec for India is the 5-seater variant.
However, some of the talking points of the car have to be the features which include some not found on other luxury SUVs. The biggest highlight being the additional passenger display which brings another screen. The driver has a digital display for the instrument cluster and a large 10.1 inch screen but the screen for the passenger is a cool touch.
The other feature highlight is the addition of ADAS features plus a heads-up display, leather upholstery and we expect the usual luxury features like a glass roof, ventilated seats and a premium audio system.
The new Grand Cherokee would be petrol only though and come with a 2.0l turbo unit which is also seen with the Wrangler. We will get to know exact features of this engine but the Grand Cherokee is expected to have a 8-speed automatic as standard plus the Jeep 4x4 system with Selec-Terrain.
The Grand Cherokee will be present in the competitive 5-seater luxury SUV space which currently has the BMW X5, Mercedes-Benz GLE plus the Audi Q7.
Exact specifications and the price list for the new Jeep Grand Cherokee would be revealed soon at its launch on the 11th of next month so stay tuned.
