First look: Tata Avinya Electric Concept With High-Speed Charging And Its Own Battery

The name comes from the Sanskrit word Avinya and which means innovation. It is a big car but seems to be a mix of an SUV/MPV/hatchback while it is a new kind of design for Tata Motors.

New Delhi: Tata is going full steam ahead with its EV plans and has a vision of the future which involves a new way of looking at cars. Going forward, the cars of the future would be simple along with being electric yet coming with high-speed charging.

The Avinya concept gets the future Gen 3 EV architecture platform which is all about EVs along with increasing space for passengers inside without increasing the size of the car. This is the second concept after the Curvv but the Avinya is an all-new concept showing the design capabilities of Tata Motors.

The name comes from the Sanskrit word Avinya and which means innovation. It is a big car but seems to be a mix of an SUV/MPV/hatchback while it is a new kind of design for Tata Motors. The concept is based on an airy cabin with a huge glass roof while the front-end shows the new Tata face for EVs.

There is a new LED light bar at the front showing the Tata logo while the headlamp design is slim too along with a large grille which being an EV is not the usual one with standard petrol/diesel cars. The side view gets a floating roof design, huge wheels, and a clean look but with sharp lines. The rear gets a long LED tail-light bar that runs across the entire width of the rear. The concept has butterfly doors that open to reveal a spacious cabin. In a rather interesting way, the interior has no big touchscreens and instead tries to be a less screen-focused cabin. Tata thinks the future is where screen time is reduced and has a simple look with a large interior.

Being an EV the wheelbase is long and the glass roof makes the cabin look bigger still. There are small screens everywhere for rearview or even for the steering wheel for specific functions but majorly the car interior is dominated by voice commands. There are also sustainable materials being used there is even an aroma diffuser for a relaxed cabin atmosphere.

The Gen3 EV platform gets a lighter and more efficient battery pack. The battery is lighter while the EV-only platform reduces weight. There is also fast charging capability on offer with the new EV architecture where the range is 500kms plus with the ability to charge in 30 minutes. The Avinya will also have its battery pack made in-house. Overall, this is more of a concept but we could see a production version coming in towards 2025 and later with the production version having many of the details seen here.
