With the recent news of cars needing to have 6 airbags as standard in India in the future, we looked at the number of cars which actually do offer 6 airbags below a price bracket. We found only a few cars that provide 6 airbags and those who do, provide them in their top-end variant. Currently, all cars need to have dual airbags as standard and that is something all cars comply with even with the cheapest cars. However, not many cars offer 6 airbags below 15 lakh. In this article, we will look at how many do offer 6 airbags with the top-end variants priced below 15 lakh.

Hyundai i20

The new i20 is currently one of the most affordable cars to offer 6 airbags with its Asta (O) variant offering 6 airbags along with being priced at Rs 9.5 lakh. The i20 is a premium hatchback with various features including a sunroof and more but the fact that it gets you 6 airbags at this price makes it rank high in our books in terms of safety. Some of the other affordable Hyundai cars like the Nios or the Aura do not get 6 airbags hence the i20 is the cheapest Hyundai to get it along with one of the hatchbacks having this feature.

Hyundai Venue

The Venue is a subcompact SUV and it gets 6 airbags too. The Venue offers it from its SX (O) trim. The Venue is available with diesel and petrol engines including a turbo petrol with a DCT automatic gearbox too. The Venue is one of the few subcompact SUVs to offer 6 airbags and again this is for the higher spec trims. The Venue with 6 airbags is priced at Rs 11.3 lakh.

Hyundai Verna

The Verna is their midsize sedan but Hyundai has offered this car with 6 airbags too. The Verna with the SX (O) trim gets 6 airbags. The Verna also is available with two petrol engine options with automatic gearboxes offered with both. You can get a diesel-engined Verna too which is available with a torque converter automatic gearbox. The Verna with 6 airbags is available for a price tag of 11.1 lakh onwards.

Honda City

The new-generation Honda City offers six airbags for its top-end trim but that also makes it comfortably below the 15 lakh barrier. The City VX comes with 6 airbags. The new Honda City offers both diesel and petrol engine options but the petrol engine offers a CVT automatic gearbox too.

Kia Sonet

The Sonet is the most affordable Kia but this subcompact SUV also gets 6 airbags in the Indian market with its GTX+ trim. The Sonet is available with two petrol engines including a turbo petrol unit while you can get it with a diesel engine too. The Sonet has manual/automatic options available with both the engines. The Sonet with the 6 airbags is available with top-end variants only with the GTX trim onwards being priced at Rs 12.3 lakh.

Kia Carens

The Carens is launching in a few days time but we have included it because it offers 6 airbags from the standard trim. Yes, it would be the only car to offer 6 airbags as standard which does make it a highly recommended choice due to its safety. The Carens would be launching with two petrol engines and one diesel with automatic options with the diesel and the 1.4l turbo petrol.

MG Astor

The Astor just about comes under the Rs 15 lakh category with its Sharp trim having six airbags. The Astor is a compact SUV from MG and comes with various features but it is the six airbags feature that stands out. However, like most cars, it is available on the higher-spec trims which are priced at Rs 14.28 lakh onwards.

Mahindra XUV300

The XUV300 comes with 7 airbags which makes it one of the safest SUVs. The XUV300 comes with this feature for the W8 (O) trim. The XUV300 adds in a driver knee airbag to the current total of side and front airbags.
