New Delhi: Whether you're an old and experienced driver or an amateur, you might inadvertently make some mistakes that may damage your car. This reduces the life of your car. Today, we want to warn you of some such mistakes that you may avoid to extend the life of your car. So let's know the five common mistakes.

1. Don't Rest Your Hands On Gear Box

Often people put one of their hands on the gear while driving. This may seem normal but this damages the car. The car's gear is placed on the liver-shifting rails. The shifting fox inside the transmission is ready to shift from one gear to another. When you rest your hand on the gear, the shifting rails are buried down and the gearbox is badly damaged.

2. Don't Turn Off Engine Immediately

Cars launched nowadays use turbochargers to boost power. Turbochargers move at a greater rpm than engines, making their temperature very high. If you turn off the engine immediately, the engine may be affected. Turn off the engine only after at least 20 to 30 seconds whenever you reach your destination. However, it is more needed when you are back after a long drive.

3. Use Right Gear At Right Speed

People slow down the car due to a speed breaker and later accelerate in the same gear after crossing the speed breaker. This puts a lot of pressure on the engine. This may cause the cylinder head, gear, and clutch to malfunction. To avoid this, you should use the right gear to slow down.

4. Don't Use Clutch As Footrest

Never step on a clutch or brake continuously while driving a car, as the clutch and brake pads may wear off quickly and may need a replacement which may increase your expenses. So never make this mistake while driving.

5. Use Handbrakes At Signals

Often people stop the car at the signal or stop the car to talk on the phone and keep the clutch pressed. This puts a lot of pressure on the engine and clutch. So neutralize the car and use a handbrake during such times.
