BYD Atto E3 Review: BYD is one of the biggest players in the worldwide Electric Vehichle (EV) space and is serious about India which shows in its first launch, the Atto 3 SUV. This is not the first BYD though as the EV maker has been selling its e6 MPV for some time. The Atto 3 though is a premium SUV that fills a niche in the market as it is positioned above the likes of the MG ZS but below the Volvo XC40 Recharge.

We had a good look at the car and it is indeed a premium SUV which justifies its pricing to some extent. The look is quite aggressive with sleek headlamps while the bumper is sharply cut. There are other elements like skid plate and cladding too. The rear has connecting tail-lamps while there are large 18-inch wheels too. The BYD Atto 3 comes in four colour options- Boulder Grey, Parkour Red, Ski White, and Surf Blue.

BYD Atto E3: Design

The interior though is quite unique since BYD has tried very hard to differentiate. It might seem a bit over the top with the design but the quality is good and at least it is not boring. The doors for example have guitar strings and you can actually play it like an instrument. Then there are the funky aircon vents. Like the e6, the Atto 3 also gets a rotating screen which either turns into landscape or portrait being 12.8-inch in size.

BYD Atto E3: Features

Other features include 7 airbags, a panoramic sunroof, aNFC card key, and a Vehicle to Load (VTOL) mobile power station, wireless charging, a one-touch electric control tailgate, an 8-speaker audio system, electric seat adjustment, voice control, LED headlamps, LED rear lights, multi-color gradient ambient lighting that responds to music rhythm, PM 2.5 air filter, CN95 air filter, etc. It has ADAS features too.

Space inside is quite good in terms of legroom while the sunroof does compromise on the headroom a bit. The boot is very big and storage spaces are plenty in the cabin.

BYD Atto E3: Specifications

The major highlight regarding the Atto 3 is the range and this is an ARAI certified 521km per charge which is actually more than many more expensive EVs. It has the blade battery tech and the battery pack has a size of 60.48kWh. Performance claims are quite brisk since it has a 0-100km/h acceleration time of 7.3 seconds. Buyers get a home charger and a portable charging box while it is of course DC fast charger capable. The Atto3 gets you  a warranty of 8 years or 1.6 Lakhs kilometers (whichever is earlier) for the traction battery, 8 years or 1.5 Lakhs kilometers (whichever is earlier) for the motor and the motor controller, 6 years or 1.5 Lakhs kilometers for the vehicle.

BYD Atto E3: Price

Priced at Rs 33.9 lakh, the Atto 3 has no direct rival since it has more range than the ZS and also more features too while being bigger as well. It is competing with bigger luxury EVs for now. For the price, the range is the highest that we have seen and it is also feature packed which means it will find takers and already 1,500 have booked one.
