Bajaj has updated its electric scooter Chetak and it has more range now as compared to before. The Chetak Urbane has been launched at Rs 1.15 lakh while the top-spec Tecpac version retails at Rs 1.21 lakh. As mentioned earlier, the Chetak Urbane has more range now at 113km vs 108 km as before. That is interesting since it has the same 2.9kWh battery pack as before.

However, it could be that the Chetak Premium has an ARAI-certified range, while the Urbane has an IDC-certified range. With the extra money for the “Tecpac” version, there is also a higher top speed of 73kmph. The standard Chetak Urban, meanwhile, gets the same top speed as before with 63kmph. Another advantage is the Sport mode which is also there with the Tecpac. One area where the Chetak Urbane lags behind the Chetak Premium, though, is charging time. While the former has a longer charging time of 4 hours 50 minutes, the latter's charging time is significantly lower at 3 hours 50 minutes. The main reason for that is the fact that the Urbane has a lower charging rate at 650W vs 800W before.

The design continues to be the talking point for the Chetak and its retro-infused styling is probably its biggest highlight here. The lines along with the LED headlamp plus turn indicator are all quite chic. While there are plenty of other electric scooters out there, in terms of its styling the Chetak remains a good choice while the Urban variant is faster now with an option. Bajaj could also bring in a bigger update with a bigger battery pack and that will increase the range further. We will have more information on this soon.
