The 450S is the more affordable Ather and comes in to make electric scooters more affordable but what are the differences over its more expensive 450X sibling? Let us take a look. The 450S design wise does not look too different from the 450X and that is nice because it does not scream that it is the 'lower variant'. The design is similar to the 450X which means sharp lines and an edgy design. The birth of the 450S comes from the fact that subsidies have been reduced and there was a need for a more affordable Ather.

Hence, the 450X has become more expensive but the 450S now takes the mantle as being expected to be their best seller. Back to the design and there is new badging for the 450S of course. The bigger differences are when you peer closer with a 2.9kWh battery pack as against the bigger 3.7kWh battery pack on the 450X. Then the 450S also loses out on one mode vs the 450X and that is the Warp mode. It does get smart eco, eco, ride and sport.

The IDC range for the 450S is 115km and that is pretty decent while not being massively lower than the 450X range. Expect 70km in Sport mode though and about 85km in Eco. 450S also differentiates itself with an LCD dash over the TFT dash which saves costs. Ather has also reconfigured the switchgear. If we look at the prices, the 450S comes in at Rs 1.3 lakh while the 450X with the 2.9kWh battery pack is Rs 1.38 lakh.

The top-end 450X is Rs 1.5 lakh. Hence, the price difference is not a lot but for slightly budget conscious buyers, the 450S does the job in terms of first impressions as it does not feel like a scaled down product at all.
