Aprilia is entering the premium segment with its new superbike aimed to compete with the likes of the KTM RC390. The Aprilia RS 457 has been unveiled in India already while its specs reveal that it would be a powerful superbike yet also won't be hugely expensive despite the fact that its price positioning would be kept premium. The RS 457 gets a 457cc twin cylinder engine which develops a power of 48bhp while also coming with a 6-speed gearbox plus a quickshifter would be offered although as an option.
Other features include ride modes, switchable traction control, a 5.0-inch TFT display, ride-by-wire etc. The Aprilia RS 457 is a proper superbike including the fact that it gets clip-on handlebars positioned low for a sportier riding stance. In comparison, the KTM RC390 gets a 399cc single cylinder engine which develops 42.4 bhp while also getting a quickshifter along with a slip and assist clutch.
Updates to the new RC390 include a new fairing plus features like a TFT display with Bluetooth. Obviously the question revolves around the pricing for both of these bikes and here the RS 457 would be more expensive than the RC390 of course. The RC390 is priced at Rs 3.18 lakh which makes it more affordable than other superbikes competing with it and value for money has always been one of the highlights of the RC390.
The RS 457 on the other hand will have a price-tag which will start north of Rs 3.75 lakh. That said, it would still be more affordable since it is not a CBU and will expand this premium superbike segment in terms of attracting more buyers with an exotic badge plus the specifications that it offers. Plus when compared with the likes of the Ninja 400, it would be expected to be more affordable too.
