On the day of Janmashtami, one should wake up at Brahma Muhurat, take a bath, wear clean clothes, and take a vow to fast with either fruit or water. Devotees should immerse themselves in Krishna's devotion throughout the day. At midnight, they celebrate Krishna's birth, offer Him food, and break the fast the next day.
