Former CBI Joint Director and Jai Bharat National Party (JBNP) president VV Lakshminarayana alleged that he has received credible information about a plot to assassinate him orchestrated by individuals associated with cases he investigated during his tenure with the CBI. After he verified the information, he said that he had filed a complaint with the Police Commissioner to take action against the conspirators. He suspected the motive behind the plot could be to eliminate him from the political race.

On April 25, VV Lakshminarayana filed nomination from Visakhapatnam North Assembly constituency.

After his nomination, Jai Bharat National Party president VV Lakshminarayana said," I received reliable information that some group is planning and conspiring to kill me because they want to please their bosses...their bosses were involved in the cases investigated by us during my CBI tenure."

"I verified the information and I found it to be true so I went to Police Commissioner and filed a complaint so that they take action against those who're conspiring and those who're supporting them...this is election season and I am also contesting from here so that could also be one of the reasons.." he said.

He claimed that his constant campaigning across various locations made him readily accessible, presenting an opportunity for them. He added, "They also want me to be out of this political race."
