The Andhra Pradesh government is expecting several industrialists to take part in the Global Investors Summit (GIS) which is scheduled to be on March 3 and 4. The Visakhapatnam International Airport has created the space for landing 18 special aircraft for Summit. Three helipads have been set up on the grounds of the Andhra University Engineering College, where the summit will take place, to airlift the delegates from the airport.

Reliance Industries Limited, GMR Group, Jindal Steel and Power, Apollo, among others, have already requested permission for the landing and takeoff of chartered flights at the airport.

There will be 31 commercial flights arriving and departing in addition to the chartered flights for the summit. The airport can accommodate 10 planes per hour on the two days of the summit. There are 16 parking spaces total, with 12 in the new apron and 4 in the old apron.

The Indian Navy is in charge of the airport's 1,100-foot runway and air traffic control. The Airports Authority of India (AAI) supervises other amenities, including parking, to enable passenger boarding and exiting. However, as a precautionary measure, Vizag Airport will keep space for emergency landings of flights in case of any trouble. The airport can handle 240 arrivals and departures over 24 hours at a rate of 10 movements per hour.
