Nara Lokesh, the general secretary of the Telugu Desam Party (TDP), has assured that if his party emerges victorious in Andhra Pradesh's upcoming assembly elections, the mining industry in the state will be free from political interference, as reported by PTI. Lokesh alleged that the current Andhra government, led by CM Jagan Mohan Reddy, is deliberately favouring mining companies owned by Reddy and excluding others.
Lokesh expressed his belief that once the TDP forms the next government, it will create an environment where the "cost of doing business" is minimized, alleviating the burden on businessmen. He was quoted by PTI, stating, "Just wait for one year, and the TDP is going to come back to power. We will certainly come to the rescue of those who are involved in mining and the mining workers."
The TDP national general secretary criticized the YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) government for its flawed policies, which, he claimed, have resulted in numerous job losses for mining workers. Lokesh further alleged that the government disregards court orders and contempt orders, eroding the industry's confidence in its policies.
As per PTI reports, Lokesh pledged, "I promise you all that once the TDP forms the next government, all irrelevant government orders will be repealed, and the previous mining policy will be reinstated." He also emphasized the party's commitment to recognizing mining as an industry to boost employment opportunities. Lokesh assured that once the TDP returns to power, a conducive atmosphere will be created for businessmen to conduct their trade without fear. Additionally, he mentioned the provision of subsidized loans for small-scale entrepreneurs.
The TDP national general secretary further made promises regarding the construction of check-dams across the Kundu River and assured compensation for those affected by river displacement, following prevailing norms.
