Andhra Pradesh: Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy on the occasion of Police Commemoration Day announced that the police personnel working in the department can avail weekly off from Thursday (October 21). He further said that ex-gratia of Rs 10 lakh will be given to the kins of cops martyred due to Covid complications, and special medical care will be offered to the Covid-affected policemen.


Speaking on the occasion, CM Jagan said that 377 policemen were martyred across the country in the last one year, and out of those who were martyred across the country, 11 are from our state. "We are paying tributes to all the martyrs," he said.


YS Jagan said in a tweet, "Ours is a government that cares about the welfare of the police. We have sanctioned Rs 10 lakh to the families of the policemen who died with Kovid. We are giving government jobs to the family members of the deceased. Home guards' salaries increased."

"Keeping police welfare as the government's prime focus, I'd like to point out that, for the first time in the country, the government has officially announced a weekly off for the police. Due to Covid, we couldn't implement this. Now that the virus' influence has subsided, we will take steps to execute it starting today," CM Jagan stated.


The Chief Minister remarked that there are numerous job openings in the Police department. He further said that home guards' special pay had also been increased and the government has released Rs 1,500 crore that was outstanding to the police department by the previous government.
