Former Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister and Telugu Desam Party chief N Chandrababu Naidu, who was arrested by the Criminal Investigation Department on Saturday in an alleged corruption case, said that he has done nothing wrong and the YSR Congress Party just wants to create fear.

"I want to inform party caders I have done nothing wrong; they intentionally wanted to arrest me. Prima facie, there is no case. I asked the officials about my role; even the FIR didn't mention it. They (the YSRCP) wanted to create fear, so they are doing it," Naidu said.

The former CM was arrested around 6 am from R K Function Hall at Gnanapuram in Nandyala town, said an official, as per a PTI report. Naidu's counsel said they will approach the High Court for bail. "CID has taken Chandrababu for a medical check-up after high Blood Pressure and diabetes were detected. We are approaching the High Court for bail," said the counsel, as per an ANI report. High drama was witnessed in Nandyal district when the police officials reached to arrest Naidu in connection to the alleged corruption charges as a group of workers got into an argument with the policemen.

TDP workers blocked road in Hindupuram to protest against Naidu's arrest. The workers questioned the late-night action against the TDP chief and a minor scuffle also took place between the two parties. Naidu has been arrested under Indian Penal Code Sections 166, 167, 418, 420, 465, 468, 471, 409, 201 R/W 109, 34&37. Party leaders criticised the police for the late-night action against the senior leaders, and reportedly some party workers were also detained by the police, according to the report.

A heavy police force has been deployed in the area under the command of DIG Raghurama Reddy, as per the police officials, stated the report. The police, however, did not respond to the questions by party leaders saying that the remand report contains everything. "We have evidence. We gave it to the High Court. The remand report contains all the contents. We will give a remand report before taking him to Vijayawada," the police were quoted as saying.

The Deputy Superintendent of Police of the CID's Economic Offences Wing (EOW), M Dhanunjayudu, in a notice served to Naidu, said, " "It is to inform you that you have been arrested... at 6 am at R K Function Hall, Gnanapuram, H/o Moolasagaram, Nandyala town and it is a non-bailable offence."
