Andhra Pradesh CM YS Jagan Mohan Reddy will lay the foundation stone for the Assago Industrial Pvt Ltd (Ethanol) plant on Friday. The Ethanol manufacturing plant will be established at APIIC Industrial Park in Gokavaram Mandal of East Godavari district. The plant will be built with an investment of 270 crores. It will generate employment for over 100 direct and 400 indirect jobs, with support from the AP Government’s Industries Department and district officials.

The new plant will be spread across 20 acres and equipped with state-of-the-art machinery. Assago Industries will be producing BioEthanol through residual broken rice and grains procured locally from Andhra Pradesh.

Ethanol is considered one of the green fuels that can be used as an alternative fuel to gasoline. This increases flexibility while lowering the level of pollutants emitted from the tailpipe. A number of automakers are building their vehicles with flex-fuel engines as several nations promote the use of ethanol in transportation.

This is apart from the economic value of bioethanol and lesser harm to the environment emanating thereof. This has prompted Governments around the world to rethink their energy supply policies. As a true alternative fossil fuel and as renewable energy, Bioethanol has also found a huge potential in India as well.

Commenting on the announcement, Ashish Gurnani, Managing Director of Assago Industries, said, "It’s a proven fact that ethanol is going to be one of the most preferred fuel alternatives. We are pleased to play a role in making Andhra Pradesh a leader in green renewable fuel with our investment and position the state as an alternative energy hub in the future. The project will also indirectly benefit hundreds of farmers and the local community."
