In the wee hours of Monday, at least two persons were injured after fire broke out at a pharmaceutical company at Jawaharlal Nehru Pharma City in Parawada, Anakapalli. One of the workers injured in the incident was identified as Noor Islam from Assam and he was shifted to King George Hospital in Visakhapatnam.
Fire tenders from Ramky Pharma SEZ and Anakapalli fire station rushed to the spot and brought it under control. The reason behind the fire accident is yet to be ascertained.

The accident occurred between 4.30 AM and 5 AM on Monday at Pyroferro industries in Bonangi village in Anakapalli district, said a Times of India report. At the time of the incident, four workers were working in the company. They were reportedly making oil from the plastic waste in a tank when the incident occurred. The oil is generally used in making tar for tarmac roads.
After preliminary investigations, local police suspect that the high temperature in the tank as the cause of the fire accident. Parawada police are still investigating the issue.
This is the second accident in the district in a week and recently a hazardous gas leak incident occurred at a seeds company in Brandix SEZ due to which a total of 121 people were hospitalised including children and women. Meanwhile, it was reported that this is the second time the poisonous gas has leaked from the company in the last two months. Thereby, the company has been closed till the investigation is complete.
