Hyderabad: Days after Telangana decided to operate special buses during the festive season, Andhra Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation (APSRTC) on Tursday announced to run 4,000 special buses in the context of pre and post-Dussehra season.

We are running about 4000 special buses for the festival. Pre-Dasara we've about 1800 buses, post-Dasara we will be running 2200 buses," said APSRTC Managing Director, Tirumala Rao.

"Out of the 4,000 buses, 1,383 buses are planned from Hyderabad, 277 from Bangalore, 97 from Chennai and the remaining 2,243 buses are planned for clearance of traffic from different points within the state of Andhra Pradesh," the APSRTC Managing Director said as quoted by the Deccan Chronicle.

However, Tirumala Rao said that the bus charges levied will be 1.5 times higher than the normal time. Else, the state road transport will face severe losses if the prices are not hiked. "During the festivals, the buses are populated only on one side of the journey. So we will face losses if not for the higher charges. I request people to understand our problem," the report further said quoting Tirumala Rao.
