A software engineer was allegedly burnt alive in his car by unidentified persons in Chittoor district of Andhra Pradesh. The body of Nagaraju (36) was found in the burnt car near Ganguudu Palle village in Chandragiri Mandal, police said.
The incident happened on Sunday. Police were alerted about the incident by locals and the victim was identified on the basis of the vehicle's registration number.
Nagaraju hailed from Brahmanapalli village and is survived by his wife and two children.
Nagaraju, who was working at a leading IT company in Bengaluru, is suspected to have been killed by relatives of a woman with whom his younger brother allegedly had an extramarital affair.
The extramarital relation between Nagaraju's brother Purshottam and a woman from the same village had led to frequent fights between the two families.
On Saturday night, the woman's family members took Nagaraju with them to discuss the matter. They allegedly thrashed him and after tying his legs and hands, locked him in the car and set it on fire.
The victim's chain, footwear, and other belongings were found near the car.
Police suspect that Nagaraju was murdered on Saturday night and the accused tried to make it appear like an accident by pushing the car down a gorge.
Chandragiri police are learnt to have arrested two key accused in the case allegedly responsible for the brutal murder, TOI reported.
Earlier, two people were charred to death when the car in which they were travelling rammed into a stationary truck in Nizamabad district of Telangana, police said. The car caught fire after the collision.
A fire engine was rushed to the spot and the blaze was put out, but by then the car was completely gutted and both people on board were charred to death.
