Hyderabad: Six members of the opposition Telugu Desam Party (TDP) were suspended from Andhra Pradesh Legislative Assembly on Tuesday for the rest of the budget session.

Initially four TDP MLAs -- Bendalam Ashok, Velagapudi Ramakrishna Babu, Ramaraju and Anagani Satyaprasad -- were suspended.

As soon as the Q&A session began, TDP members came to the podium and chanted slogans demanding a debate on deaths due to illicit liquor in Jangareddygudem town of West Godavari district.

Speaker Tammineni Seetharam dismissed their request for an adjournment motion, claiming that the issue had been resolved last week after Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy issued a statement clarifying the government's position.

TDP members, on the other hand, claimed that the government was concealing the reality by labelling liquor deaths as ordinary deaths, and requested a debate on the subject.

The Speaker chastised some TDP members who reportedly blew the whistle. He said that their disorderly behaviour was dragging the august House into shame.

Later, Speaker Tammineni also suspended TDP MLAs Sambhasivarao and Gadde Rammohan.

Earlier, the council adjourned due to concerns of TDP members. The Telugu Desam Party has given an adjournment motion on the ban on alcohol in the Legislative Council. The chairman adjourned the legislature for 10 minutes.
