Vijayawada: YSRCP government on Thursday presented the annual budget of whopping ₹2.29 lakh crore for the financial year 2020-21 for Andhra Pradesh. Infrastructure development was given utmost importance while the fund allocation for healthcare enhancement was increased. Interestingly, the Jagan government has introduced Gender Budget. 


The total budget allocated for the new initiative was ₹47,283.21 crore which will be utilised for women empowerment. Besides, for the development of children, the state government had allocated ₹16,748.47 crore.






“The state government has realised the need to allocate towards women and children in the annual budget as we are introducing the gender budget for the first time,” said Finance Minister Buggana Rajendranath in his budget speech.

Infrastructure is given top importance as the government had planned to start the 'Pedalandariki Illu scheme'. Under the scheme, the government has planned to build 28.3 lakh houses with a fund allocation of ₹50,940 crore. The construction sites have been distributed for over 17,000 houses to be called as YSR Jagananna Colonies, where the basic amenities are provided by the government.
