A man was brutally hacked to death in full public view by unidentified persons in Guntur of Andhra Pradesh, police said. The incident happened on Tuesday evening during busy shopping hours in the Patnambazar neighbourhood.
According to witnesses, the attackers chased Doddi Ramesh, 38, who entered a provisional store to save himself. However, they barged into the shop and attacked him with knives and other sharp-edged weapons. The victim died on the spot.
The murder in the crowded market caused alarm among the people. Upon knowing the information, police reached the spot, moved the body to a nearby hospital for an autopsy, and started to investigate the issue. Police have constituted two teams to arrest the culprits who were absconding. A suspect was also rounded up for questioning.
Ramesh was into the finance and marriage decoration business. According to his family, he was getting ready to take a bath when he got a call on his cell phone and left. Ramesh's wife alleged that a rowdy sheeter, RK, was behind the murder.
According to police, the victim had a criminal record at the Lalapet Police Station. He was accused in a murder case a few years ago.

Earlier, a 32-year-old techie from Andhra Pradesh died in the United States while on a trekking trip on Sunday.
Guntur native Ganguri Srinath died after falling while trekking in Atlanta. The software engineer, who had been working in the United States for the last six years, had gone trekking in Atlanta along with his wife and friends.
According to reports, the incident occurred in Cleveland Mountain Hills on Sunday. He accidentally fell about 200 feet down While trekking in the mountains. The techie was hit in the head and died on the spot.
