Hyderabad: Six people died, and 12 others were injured in a massive fire accident that broke out at the Porus Chemical Factory at Akkireddygudem in the Musunur zone of Eluru district, Andhra Pradesh on Wednesday midnight.


CM Jagan Mohan Reddy has expressed his grief over the fire accident that broke out at the Porus Chemical Factory and compensated Rs 25 lakh to the victims' families. He also announced a compensation of 5 lakh for those severely injured and compensation of 2 lakh for those who had minor ailments.



The accident happened when a reactor exploded in Unit-4 of the Porous Chemical Factory around midnight. The injured have been shifted to Vijayawada Government Hospital for treatment. Five of the dead were migrant workers from Bihar.

"12 people have been admitted to Vijayawada Hospital. One died on the way to the hospital. We are treating 12 people in the emergency department," ABP Desam said, quoting Bhagyalakshmi, Superintendent, Vijayawada Government Hospital.


A total of 30 people were working in the Unit-4 block where the accident occurred. Thirteen of them were injured and were rushed to the nearby government hospital. Police, Revenue, Fire, and other emergency workers have arrived on the scene and attempted to douse the fire, reported ABP Desam.


Nuzividu DSP, CI and other police rushed to the spot and took action. Eluru district SP Rahul Dev Sharma rushed to the spot and examined the chemical factory after getting to know about the incident. Police led by Nuzividu DSP are investigating the cause of the accident at the factory premises.
