In the wake of Congress announcing the 'Chalo Secretariat' protest in Andhra Pradesh to demand justice for unemployed youth on Thursday, the state has already started to face heat in political circles. A day before the protest Andhra Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) president YS Sharmila spent her night in the party office to evade arrest while a few other Congress leaders were detained for staging a protest on Thursday.

Several Congress members and leaders who took out the 'Chalo Secretariat' protest in Vijayawada against unemployment among the youth were detained by the police on Thursday.

According to ANI, APCC chief YS Sharmila Reddy spent the night in her party office in Vijayawada to avoid house arrest.

On Wednesday, YS Sharmila claimed that Congress leaders across the state were detained by the police and placed under 'house arrest' to prevent their participation in the proposed 'Chalo Secretariat' protest scheduled for Thursday.

The protest, announced by Congress, was scheduled to be led by YS Sharmila on February 22. The protest has been aimed at demanding justice for unemployed youth and the student community in the state. Earlier, former APCC president Gidugu Rudra Raju also accused Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy of betraying the unemployed youth in the state by not fulfilling his election promise of releasing a job calendar every year and filling all vacant posts through the Andhra Pradesh Public Service Commission, as pledged during the election campaign.
