Hyderabad: Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy released compensation for the 2021-Kharif season under the YSR Free Crop Insurance scheme in Chennekothapalli village in Sri Satyasai district.

Under the direct benefit transfer option, Rs 2,977 crore was deposited into the accounts of 15.61 lakh farmers in Anantapur and Sathya Sai districts who lost their crops because of heavy rains during the 2021 Kharif season.

Jagan stated that the Village Secretariats display names of eligible candidates, emphasising transparency and ensuring that farmers do not have to go via government agencies or intermediaries. At the end of each season, the insurance funds for crop losses are credited directly to the farmers' accounts, he added.

"We are assisting Rs 7 lakh to the families of farmers who have committed suicide," he said.
