At least 13 children were injured after a chariot came in contact with electric wires during Ugadi Utsavam celebrations in Chinna Tekur village of Kurnool district, Andhra Pradesh on Thursday. The mishap reportedly took place when the Prabha Chariot Procession was underway from Anjaneya Swamy Temple. 


According to ANI, Kiran Kumar, Circle inspector Kurnool Rural Police Station said, "At least 13 children sustained injuries due to electrocution during the Ugadi Utsavam celebrations in Chinna Tekur village of Kurnool district."

The injured children were immediately taken to Kurnool Hospital for the necessary medical care, according to the police.


Circle Inspector Kirankumar Reddy from Kurnool Rural Police Station said that 13 children sustained injuries from electrocution following the conclusion of the Ugadi Utsav celebrations earlier on Thursday. He mentioned that all injuries were below ten percent severity, and fortunately, no fatalities were reported.















Panyam MLA Katasani Rambhupal Reddy and Nandyala Telugu Desam Party candidate Byreddy Shabari visited the hospital to personally meet with the injured children and ensure they received adequate medical attention. Doctors have assured that there was no immediate threat to the lives of the children, as per the report on ANI.


Ugadi, also the harvest festival, signifies the commencement of the New Year in the Telugu calendar. According to the traditional Hindu lunar calendar, the first day of the first month is marked as Chaitra. Observed on the first day of Chaitra Navratri, it holds cultural importance for the people of Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, and Karnataka.
