Andhra Pradesh: Budget Session To Begin On March 7, Govt Officials Asked To Ready Answers For Queries Raised In House
The session will begin with the Governor Biswa Bhusan Harichandan’s address to the joint session of both the Legislative Council and Legislative Assembly at 11 am.
New Delhi: The 2022-23 Budget Session of the Andhra Pradesh government is set to commence on March 7.
The session will begin with the Governor Biswa Bhusan Harichandan’s address to the joint session of both the Legislative Council and Legislative Assembly at 11 am.
According to the government sources, the House will pass a condolence motion on March 8 and pay tributes to the former Industries and Commerce Minister Mekapati Goutham Reddy who died of a heart attack in February.
It is expected that the State Finance Minister Buggana Rajendranath will present the Budget for the financial year 2022-23 on March 11.
Last year, the legislature had cut short the duration of the budget session to a single-day, including the governor’s address and the presentation of the budget, due to the Covid-19 pandemic. However, this year, the government will present the full budget in a proper format.
The Business Advisory Committee will meet on March 7 and decide on the duration of the budget session.
Meanwhile, the Council Chairman K Moshen Raju and the Assembly Speaker Tammineni Sitaram asked the secretaries of all the departments to prepare answers to all the queries raised by the members.
They also appealed to the state police department to arrange foolproof security arrangements during the budget session.
The Council Chairman further said that questions related to the education and finance department were pending since the last session and wanted the officials to provide replies to all the questions this time. He also suggested that every department appoint a liaison officer for this purpose.
On the other hand, after a meeting with the Council Chairman and the Assembly Speaker earlier on Saturday, Government Whip G Srikanth Reddy hinted that there would be a debate on the powers of the legislature in the wake of the recent judgment of Andhra Pradesh High Court on a batch of pleas that challenged the repeal of Capital Region Development Authority Act and the AP Decentralisation and Inclusive Development of All Regions Act, also referred to as the three-capital bill.
Notably, the Opposition Telugu Desam Party, except its chief N Chandrababu Naidu, is set to attend the budget session of the Andhra Pradesh Assembly on Monday.
