Andhra CM YS Jagan Mohan Reddy Meets Home Minister Amit Shah, Discusses Several State Issues

CM Jagan explained that Tirupati has grown into an educational hub, and the setting up of the NFSU would serve the demands of the growing need for criminal investigation infrastructure.

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy called on Home Minister Amit Shah on Wednesday and discussed several state issues, including the Polavaram irrigation project.

According to an ABP Desam report, the chief minister underlined during the meeting the unmet requests on the AP Bifurcation Act and the early release of some funds for the completion of the Polavaram irrigation project.

The CM also urged Union Minister to amend the National Food Security Act's flawed provisions, fix the Polavaram Project cost at Rs 55,548 crore as recommended by the project's Technical Advisory Committee, end the practice of treating the project cost component-wise as it escalates costs while also delaying the project, grant the state 14 more medical colleges, and allot mines to meet the iron ore requirement of the steel plant being built at Kadapa.

CM Jagan further explained that Tirupati has grown into an educational hub, and the setting up of the NFSU would serve the demands of the growing need for criminal investigation infrastructure.

The Chief Minister also urged to work towards releasing the pending arrears of Rs 32,625.25 crore, which include resource funding of Rs 18,330.45 crore for the fiscal 2014-15 and pension arrears, reimbursement of Rs 2,937.92 crore spent by the state government on the Polavaram Project from its own coffers so far, and resolving other pending post-bifurcation issues between Andhra Pradesh and Telangana.

The Chief Minister also urged Union Minister Amit Shah to intervene and restrain the Telangana government from acting unilaterally and violating operational procedures in drawing Krishna River water and generating electricity. The Home Minister was also urged to grant environmental clearances for the Rayalaseema Lift Irrigation Scheme (RLS), through which 3 TMC of water is delivered per day.

After meeting Shah, CM Jagan left for Vijayawada.
