Chennai: The Cyclone Gulab wreaked havoc in Andhra Pradesh and a few parts of Odisha on Monday but the impact of the cyclone is far from over since the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has flagged a probability for another cyclone on the west coast. Within the next 24 hours, the IMD predicted the air formation due to Cyclone Gulab system to intensify and lead to development of cyclone Shaheen in the region.
In the latest report, IMD said, the depression over north Telangana, adjoining south Chattisgarh and Vidarbha moved west-northwestwards with a speed of 13 kmph during the last six hours and lay centered over north Telangana from 11.30 pm on Monday.
"It is likely to move west-northwestwards and weaken into a Well Marked Low Pressure Area during the next 12 hours. The system is likely to emerge into northeast Arabian sea and adjoining Gujarat coast around September 30," the IMD said.
Following this, the IMD predicted, "There is also a likelihood for the system to further intensify over northeast Arabian sea during the next 24 hours."

Hence, the IMD has predicted light to moderate rainfall in most of the places while a few isolated parts may experience heavy to very heavy rainfall over Konkan, Goa, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra and Gujarat.
Meanwhile, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy on Monday told officials to expedite relief measures and announced a compensation of Rs 5 lakh to the kin of the three deceased persons. He also instructed officials to give Rs 1,000 to each family leaving the relief camps.
For the measures at relief camps, the Chief Minister told the officials to provide clean drinking water in the relief camps through water tankers since water might be contaminated in the areas due to the heavy rains.
