Islamabad [Pakistan], August 6 (ANI): Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz President Shehbaz Sharif has been nominated as the Prime Ministerial candidate by the party's central executive committee following a meeting on Monday.

According to Samaa TV, Sharif will be contesting election against Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf chairman Imran Khan.

The committee also suggested Shehbaz Sharif's son Hamza Shahbaz's name for the post of Chief Minister of Punjab province.

Following the emergence of PTI as the largest party post the recently-concluded elections, the opposition announced an alliance, including Muttahida Majlis-e-Amal (MMA), Awami National Party (ANP), Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) and others.

The alliance will later announce the names of the candidates for the posts of speaker and deputy speaker of the National Assembly.

The opposition alliance has also come to a decision in which they will name the candidate for Prime Minister Office from the PML-N, speaker from the PPP and deputy speaker from the MMA.

Meanwhile, PTI chairman Imran Khan has officially been nominated as their candidate for the next Prime Minister of the country as well as the parliamentary leader of their parliamentary committee on Monday. (ANI)
