London [United Kingdom], July 13 (ANI): Former Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif's grandsons Junaid Safdar and Zakariya Hussain were released following an altercation outside their residence in Park Lane here on Friday.

Junaid Safdar is son of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader and Nawaz Sharif's daughter Maryam Nawaz, while Zakaria Hussain is the son of Hussain Nawaz.

In the video, there was an argument between Safdar and Hussain and a few demonstrators, when it quickly spiralled into a brawl. Sharif's grandsons were seen beating the demonstrators black and blue.

Following this, the Metropolitan Police arrived at the scene and arrested Safdar and Hussain. Authorities said Safdar was arrested for punching a demonstrator outside their residence, Geo TV reported.

As per the report, the police said that a person sustained minor injuries in the incident. An investigation is currently on.

Meanwhile, Nawaz Sharif and Maryam, who were in London to meet the former's ailing wife, Kulsoom, left for Pakistan on Friday.

The father-daughter duo was supposed to land at Lahore's Allama Iqbal International Airport at 6.15 p.m. (local time) from Abu Dhabi on Etihad Airways flight EY243.

However, their flight has been delayed by two hours and are now expected to land at Lahore after 8 pm (local time), as per Geo TV.

According to PML-N sources, Sharif and Maryam have gone to a hotel near the airport in Abu Dhabi and have not been arrested yet, contrary to media reports from Pakistan.

Sources said that the two are holding consultations with some unidentified people as well as some PML-N workers. They are expected to board a flight to Pakistan with a National Accountability Bureau (NAB) team onboard.

On July 6, Nawaz was sentenced to 10 years imprisonment, and a fine of eight million pounds was slapped on him in the Avenfield reference case, while Maryam was sentenced to seven years of jail and fined two million pounds by the Accountability Court. (ANI)
