Who Is Monu Manesar?

Violence erupted in Nuh after a mob attacked a VHP procession following rumours Monu Manesar will be participating in the march.

Mohit Yadav, also known as Monu Manesar, is the head of the cow vigilante wing of Bajrang Dal in Haryana.

Manesar has a huge following on FB and YouTube, where he routinely posts pictures of himself showing off his vehicles

Monu is a polytechnic diploma holder and joined the Bajrang Dal during his second year of college.

He has been associated with Bajrang Dal for the last 10-12 years.

Manesar has been booked in a case related to murders of alleged cow smugglers Nasir and Junaid in Rajasthan earlier this year.

Manesar is in the wanted list of Rajasthan's Bharatpur police.

In 2015, Manesar was part of a district cow protection task team that was set up by the Haryana government.

Manesar also participates in efforts to check 'love jihad' and holds much clout in several districts of Haryana.

Haryana DGP said an SIT would be formed to probe the role of Monu Manesar in the Nuh violence.
