Most Corrupt Nations In The World

Corruption levels in nations are defined by their Corruption Perceptions Index (CPI) based on certain assessments and opinion surveys.

The CPI refers to corruption as an abuse of entrusted power for private gain.

The CPI rankings are published annually by an NGO, Transparency International.

According to Transperancy International's 2023 rankings, the most corrupt nation is Somalia, with a CPI score of 11/100.

On the 2nd spot are Venezuela, Syria, and South Sudan.
All three have a CPI score of 13.


Yemen, troubled by the Houthi rebels, features 3rd on the list with score of 16/100.

Kim Jong Un's North Korea, Nicaragua, Haiti, and Equatorial Guinea are ranked 4 with a score of 172.

Central Asia's Turkmenistan and North Africa's Libya scored 170, putting them on number 5 on the list of most corrupt nations.

India has a CPI score of 39, ranking it 25th on the list of most corrupt nations.
