Poila Baishakh 2024: How You Can Prepare Thakurbari Special Moong Potol On This Day

Heat oil in a wok. Add salt and fry the potatoes and parwal and keep aside

Now add mustard oil to the wok and put bay leaf, cumin seed, clove, cinnamon, green cardamom and asafetida.

When the spices splutter add the sliced onion and fry till golden.

Now add grated coconut, tomatoes and the powdered masalas. Add salt and sugar along with roasted and washed moong dal. Cook for 3 mins in medium flame till everything is well blended.

Next add 3/4th cup water and vegetables and cook covered in low medium heat.

Stir occasionally and check if water is needed.

When everything is well cooked add the ghee and slit green chillies.

Check seasoning.

Moong potol will be of thick consistency and little sweetish in taste.
