Maharashtra, which was reeling under a heatwave over the past few weeks, will remain hot and humid.
According to the IMD, heatwave conditions will prevail in Rajasthan and Gujarat on April 16 and 17. While the heatwave is likely to start subsiding in Gujarat from April 18, Rajasthan is expected to endure the heatwave for at least one more day.
There has been rise in minimum and maximum temperatures in Delhi since Monday. The Maximum and Minimum temperatures are in the range of 36°C to 38°C and 22°C to 24°C, respectively. However, no heatwave alert has been issued by the IMD.
Parts of south, Northeast, and east India are likely to receive rainfall in the next few days.
As per IMD, a heatwave is said to be in play if the maximum temperature reaches at least 40℃ or more for plains and at least 30℃ or more for hilly regions.Qualitatively, heatwave is a condition of air temperature, which becomes fatal to human body when exposed for long durations. Quantitatively, it is defined based on the temperature thresholds over a region in terms of actual temperature or its departure from normal.
Exposure to severe heatwave can result in dehydration, heatstroke, blackout, inflammation, and increased respiratory rate.
To protect yourself from the effects of heatwave drink lots of water and reduce exposure to sun. Meals should be light and healthy. You must stay indoors as much as possible and consult the doctor if any health issues are experienced.
