Lok Sabha Elections: How Can NRIs Cast Vote In India?

An NRI is a citizen of India who is absent from the country owing to employment, education, etc and has not acquired citizenship of any other country

As per the EC, there are several steps that an NRI needs to follow to vote in the elections held in India

Find your polling station and the contact details of election officers in your area

Download Form 6A from the ECI website and fill it out in two copies

While filling out the form, make sure that one recent passport-size, coloured photograph is affixed to Form 6A

The NRI voter should provide self-attested photocopies of the relevant pages of the passport containing a photograph and address in India

The form can be submitted in person or by post

NRI voter’s name is included in a separate section for “Overseas Electors,” which is the last section of the roll of each polling station area

The NRI voter can use Form-8 to make any corrections in the electoral roll
