Air India Plane Crash: High-Level Probe Launched into Ahmedabad Air India Crash, Multiple Agencies Involved | ABP NEWS

ABP News Bureau   |  14 Jun 2025 12:39 PM (IST)

A high-level committee has been formed to investigate the tragic crash of Air India flight AI171, which crashed shortly after takeoff from Ahmedabad on June 12. The crash resulted in severe casualties, including students and doctors from BJ Medical College, where the aircraft collided with a hostel building. The investigation panel includes top officials such as the Director General of Civil Aviation (DGCA), Director General of BCAS, Special Director of IB, Director of DFS, and other key security and aviation experts. Their responsibilities include collecting and analyzing flight data, preserving records, assessing existing SOPs, and offering recommendations to prevent future incidents. Multiple agencies, including the NSG, Gujarat ATS, and forensic teams, are working on-ground. Forensic experts have gathered samples and sent them for lab analysis. Gujarat ATS has recovered the DVR of the hostel’s CCTV system to aid in the probe. Both black boxes—the Flight Data Recorder and Cockpit Voice Recorder—have been retrieved and are under analysis. The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has ruled out sabotage or terrorist activity so far. Meanwhile, the DGCA has issued new safety protocols for Dreamliner aircraft. The crash underscores the urgent need for aviation safety reforms and accountability.
