Maharashtra News: Pune Man Dies by Suicide Alleging Harassment by NCP CandidateA shocking incident has come to light in Pune amid the ongoing municipal elections, where 56-year-old Sadiq, also known as Babu Kapoor, was found dead in his office, reportedly having taken his own life. Authorities recovered a 30-page suicide note in which Kapoor accused Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) candidate Farooq Sheikh of mental harassment related to a land dispute estimated at around ₹10 crore. The suicide note reportedly also names certain police officials whom the deceased held responsible for the harassment. Kapoor’s allegations highlight the intense political pressures and disputes arising during the election season. Farooq Sheikh is contesting from Ward 41 as a candidate of the Ajit Pawar faction of the NCP. Pune police have launched a detailed investigation into the circumstances surrounding Kapoor’s death to determine whether any criminal negligence, coercion, or harassment contributed to the tragedy. Authorities are examining the documents and statements from witnesses mentioned in the note. The case has sparked concerns over electoral pressures and the misuse of political influence, particularly in high-value property disputes linked to election campaigns.
