US Delegation To Meet Dalai Lama In Dharamshala Today | ABP News

ABP News Bureau   |  19 Jun 2024 11:53 AM (IST)

A seven-member US Congressional delegation, including former US House of Representatives Speaker Nancy Pelosi and led by House Foreign Affairs Committee Chairman Michael McCaul, arrived at the Dalai Lama Temple in Dharamshala, Himachal Pradesh, on Wednesday to meet the Tibetan spiritual leader. The visit comes as US President Joe Biden is reportedly set to sign legislation that aims to press China to resolve the Tibet dispute. Beijing has criticized both moves, stating that Tibet is an internal matter of China that brooks no interference by external forces. Tenzin Lekshay, spokesperson for the Tibetan government-in-exile, said the US delegation's visit is a “jubilant” moment for them. He noted that the US delegation and His Holiness the Dalai Lama held a high-level meeting.
