On the occasion of National Unity Day, Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched a sharp attack on previous governments, accusing them of endangering national security for the sake of vote-bank politics. He said that while earlier regimes ignored major threats, his government has taken decisive steps to confront them. Modi emphasized that India must rise above political and ideological divides, stressing that diversity of thought is welcome in democracy, but not “diversity of hearts.” He accused the Congress of disrespecting leaders like Sardar Patel, Dr. B.R. Ambedkar, Subhas Chandra Bose, Jayaprakash Narayan, and Ram Manohar Lohia, and of fostering political untouchability. He called on citizens to reaffirm their commitment to unity and respect for the nation’s collective spirit.
