Tragedy in Pune: Old Bridge Collapses in Talegaon, Dozens Swept Away in Indrayani River | ABP NEWS
A major tragedy struck Maharashtra’s Pune district on Sunday afternoon when an old iron bridge over the Indrayani River collapsed near the popular tourist spot of Kundmala in Talegaon. The incident occurred around 3:30 PM, when over 100 people were reportedly on the bridge, enjoying the weekend near the waterfall. The sudden collapse sent an estimated 25 to 30 people into the fast-flowing waters. Local police, NDRF teams, and rescue workers rushed to the site, launching an intense operation to locate the missing. Early reports suggest that the bridge was in a dangerously dilapidated state and should have been closed to the public. The narrow 4-foot-wide bridge could not bear the load of the crowd. This tragic accident follows another incident earlier today in Uttarakhand, where a helicopter returning from Kedarnath Dham to Guptkashi crashed near Gaurikund, claiming seven lives. Authorities urge the public to stay away from unsafe structures and cooperate with rescue efforts. This is not the time for blame—it's a time for compassion, unity, and action.
