View In AppOfficials claimed on Saturday that two persons died of asphyxia and six others were wounded during janmashtami festivities on August 19 at the Banke Bihari Temple in Mathura, news agency ANI reported.
As worshippers gathered to the temple to celebrate the event, the shrine became extremely crowded.
Police identified the deceased as Nirmala Devi and Ram Prasad Vishwakarma, who were confirmed dead at the hospital.
Another pilgrim slumped and fainted near the temple's departure gate, causing devotees' movements to be limited. During Mangala Aarti, the incidence occurred.
