Dwarkapeeth Shankaracharya Swami Swaroopanand Saraswati passed away at the age of 99 in Narsinghpur in Madhya Pradesh on Sunday. According to a report by news agency ANI, the seer died of a minor heart attack and breathed his last at Shridham Jhoteshwar Ashram District at 3.30 pm.
His funeral will take place on Monday, as per reports.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi took to Twitter to express his condolences on the demise of the religious leader. He wrote, "Deeply saddened by the demise of Swami Swaroopanand Saraswati, Shankaracharya of Dwarka Sharda Peeth. My condolences to his followers in this time of grief."
