When India gained independence, apart from Pakistan and China, it had another neighbour called Tibet. After India under Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru gave recognition of Mao Tse Tung-led China as a nation, China invaded Tibet and annexed it into its own territory driving it closer to Indian borders.
