The political battle over student protests in Karnataka and Jharkhand has intensified, with the BJP attacking the Congress over its response to alleged examination irregularities and youth demonstrations. BJP spokesperson Sambit Patra questioned Congress leaders, including Rahul Gandhi, over their silence on the Karnataka police constable recruitment controversy and the ongoing student agitation in Jharkhand. Patra criticised Karnataka Minister Priyank Kharge over his remarks on the police recruitment exam row, alleging that the statement reflected arrogance towards protesting students. He questioned why Congress leaders were not raising the issue in Parliament or publicly supporting the affected candidates. Meanwhile, in Jharkhand, a major student movement against alleged irregularities in JPSC and JSSC examinations has gained momentum. Students have been protesting at Ranchi’s Jaipal Singh Munda Stadium, demanding cancellation of the 14th JPSC preliminary examination, a CBI probe into alleged irregularities, and greater transparency in recruitment procedures. Led by student leader Devendranath Mahto, protesters have intensified their agitation through marches, torch rallies, and an indefinite hunger strike. Students have alleged paper leaks and manipulation in recruitment examinations, claiming that the future of thousands of aspirants is at stake. The Jharkhand government has transferred the investigation of alleged irregularities to the CID. Actions have reportedly been taken against officials and agencies linked to the examination process, while the JPSC chairman has stepped down. However, protesting students continue to demand a CBI investigation, arguing that a broader probe is needed.
