Repair work underway after Munak canal breach causes flooding in North Delhi

View In AppNew Delhi, July 12 (ANI): Repair work is currently underway on the barrage of the Munak Canal in North Delhi. On July 11, a sub-branch of the Munak Canal sustained a breach in the Bawana region. Munak Canal, which is a part of the Western Yamuna Canal, got its Career Lined Channel (CLC) that runs into Bawana broke, leading to floods in nearby areas. Recently one day the entire Delhi was submerged due to heavy rains. After that the people of the national capital are waiting for heavy rains. Meanwhile, due to breach of Munak Canal barrage in Delhi, water entered waist-deep residential areas in JJ Colony of Bawana in North Delhi. Delhi Government Minister Atishi said on Thursday morning about the crack in a sub-branch of the Munak Canal, saying that the Delhi Jal Board is working with the Haryana Irrigation Department, which takes care of the Munak Canal. The direction of water in the second sub-branch of the canal has been changed. Repair work has started. Atishi on Wednesday visited the Yamuna river below Loha Pul and Yamuna Bazaar to review the flood preparedness. Meanwhile, while talking to the media, Water Minister Atishi said that last year, the water level in Delhi had reached the highest level in 40 years. If there is a flood this year, we have already started preparations for it.
