Rajasthan Theft Protests Erupt As Jhalawar Boils; Maligaon Blast Verdict Expected After 17 Years

ABP News Bureau   |  31 Jul 2025 12:27 PM (IST)

Tensions are running high in Rajasthan’s Jhalawar as citizens and traders protest the rising cases of theft. In Bhawani Mandi, the situation intensified with a large public rally in front of the police station. Protesters, led by the Vyapar Sangh, carried black flags and shouted slogans against police inaction. Locals allege that thefts are occurring almost daily, yet law enforcement has failed to make any concrete arrests, leading to growing frustration and demands for accountability.Meanwhile, in Maharashtra, after 17 years of legal proceedings, a crucial verdict is expected today in the 2008 Maligaon bomb blast case. The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has prosecuted seven accused, including BJP MP Pragya Thakur, retired Lt. Col. Prasad Purohit, and Major Ramesh Upadhyay, under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA) and various sections of the Indian Penal Code. The blast, which occurred during Ramzan on 29 September 2008, killed six people and injured over 100.The case has long drawn national attention due to its alleged links to “saffron terror”, and a verdict could have wide political and legal repercussions. The victims’ families await justice, hoping today marks the end of a long and painful wait.
