Rahul Gandhi Criticizes Railways Over New Delhi Station Stampede: 'Another Systemic Failure…'

ABP News Bureau   |  16 Feb 2025 11:14 AM (IST)

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi has strongly criticized the Indian Railways following the tragic stampede at New Delhi Railway Station, which claimed 18 lives, including three children. Calling it "yet another failure of the railway system," he questioned the government's preparedness in handling large crowds, especially amid Mahakumbh travel rush. The chaos erupted on platforms 14 and 15 due to overcrowding and train delays. Passengers struggled as escalators were non-functional, exacerbating the situation. In response, Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw ordered a high-level probe, while special trains were introduced to ease congestion. Meanwhile, Defense Minister Rajnath Singh and Delhi LG V.K. Saxena expressed condolences, assuring relief efforts. With mounting criticism over mismanagement, political reactions continue to put railway authorities under scrutiny.
